Thrivent Financial approved our application and provided seed money for the “Oasis for Youth” project. The project was organized by Grace member, Karen Hagert, with help and support from many others. Oasis is a resource and a center for homeless and precariously-housed youth in Bloomington, Richfield and Edina and  is headquartered at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. The Thrivent seed money was used to purchase 25 personal hygiene containers, 15 towel and washcloth sets, 4 boxes of diapers and 2 boxes of baby wipes.

A special collection was held on Sunday, September 13 and items were contributed to help fill 38 personal containers. Items included soap, shampoo, comb, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and lip balm.  An example of the container and contents is pictured to the right.

The containers were packed by the OPALS on Friday, September 18 and then delivered to Oasis. Many thanks to all who gave of their time, energy and resources to make the project a success!
